Every year, McDonald’s launches a huge breakfast bagel campaign spanning its many regions. My goal with this project was to excite McDonald's lovers about the bagel launch by highlighting three of the breakfast bagels and each of the unique ingredients that make them a prime breakfast option.
The Bagel Wheel
Breakfast bagels are tasty on their own, but adding crispy bacon, a sausage patty, or grilled onions can take the bagel to a whole new level. I wanted to showcase the three different bagel options McDonald’s offers while highlighting the individual features that make each bagel unique.
To feature each product’s unique trait, I had to figure out a way to show each product while explaining how it differentiates from the others. I created this bagel wheel that rotates through the bagels, giving each product its time on-screen while highlighting the differentiating ingredient with the product indicator.
To get this to animate the way I wanted, I set up a rig that controls how the bagel looks and the action it takes as it travels from the foreground to the background. With this rig, I had more control over the product indicator, the expansion of the bagel to reveal its parts, and the tint and blur applied to the bagels as they traveled from the foreground to the background. All of these elements working in conjunction were able to help me achieve the look that I wanted in an easily editable way.
